Join us for the annual DC Rickey Cocktail Competition!

What's a Rickey? It is DC's official cocktail -- from the Washington Post,

"in the mid-1880s, [a] bartender named George A. Williamson apparently created the rickey at a famous/infamous bar named Shoomaker's, located on E Street NW, just off Pennsylvania Avenue. It was the go-to drink of a loyal Shoomaker's patron and Democratic lobbyist named Col. Joseph Kyle Rickey, who is often credited as the co-inventor of the cocktail. (The colonel preferred bourbon, but gin soon became the spirit of choice in the cocktail.)"

Celebrate the Rickey this summer with unlimited Rickey cocktails from bartenders all over the city!

Join the highly acclaimed Chichibu Distillery to celebrate the annual release of the exclusive “US Party Cask.”

This year, two single casks were selected exclusively for the United States and honored with special release parties featuring Ichiro's Malt & Grain cocktails, rare Chichibu whiskies, and, of course, pours from the coveted Party Cask.

This year’s DC expression is a vatting that highlights Chichibu’s own malt whisky as the key component, carefully blended with select whiskies from around the world. The blend was first filled into second-fill bourbon barrels, then re-casked into ex-peated casks for an additional three years of maturation in Chichibu’s warehouses.

The result: a complex whisky with notes of vanilla, honey, stone fruit, and a touch of smokiness.

Join us this Father’s Day for a special tasting with Smooth Ambler as we debut three brand-new single barrels—two of which come with a unique twist!.

First up: a 7-year-old single barrel rye, bottled at 119.8 proof. With a soft, elegant profile and just a touch of classic rye spice on the finish, it’s a pleaser for both rye and bourbon lovers alike.

Then, experience a fascinating side-by-side of two Smooth Ambler single barrel bourbons—both drawn from the same 6-year-old barrel. One is bottled at its full barrel-strength of 122.2 proof, while the other is proofed down to a gentler 110.

Despite sharing the same origin, these two expressions showcase strikingly different profiles, each offering their own levels and layers of florals and citrus with just the right touch of oak.

At the tasting, guests will also have the opportunity to explore proof variations with a guided demonstration on dilution. We’ll provide reverse osmosis filtered water, 1 ml syringes, and 10 ml graduated cylinders to experiment and find the perfect proof!
